A fourth generation bricklayer, Executive Vice
President Ken Lambert was appointed to the Executive
Board in 1999 and elected to serve a full five-year
term in September 2000. Lambert’s family
tradition included union service as well as a strong
identification with the trade.
Relatively early in his masonry career, he gained
extensive on the job experience that allowed him
the opportunity to become a craft training instructor
at Local 21’s training center in the Chicago
area. In November 1989 Ken was hired as apprentice
instructor for the 18th Street Development 10 Corporation.
He was appointed to District Council #1 as representative
and organizer in January 1991. He was the first
full-time organizer for BAC’s Northern Illinois
District Council where his utilization of the latest
organizing techniques and coordination of resources
earned him Union-wide prominence. In 1996 he was
named District Manager/Vice President for Local
21 IL and the following year, he was elected President
of the Local – the youngest principal officer
in the Local’s history.
In 1997 Executive Vice President Lambert was appointed
to serve on the BAC Executive Council. He continues
to work closely with IU leaders to expand and guide
the Union’s organizing program.
