Former BAC Lawyer the New Chair of the NLRB

On January 20th, Wilma Liebman was appointed as Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) by President Obama. Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Liebman served as Labor Council for BAC from 1990 through 1993. “We are very proud of Wilma,” said IU President John J. Flynn. “Her integrity, broad knowledge of labor law, and dedication to applying the law in a fair and just manner will benefit all U.S. workers. We are proud that BAC is listed among the organizations on her path to the Chairmanship.”
Wilma’s experience with the labor movement extends beyond BAC. She also served as a staff attorney for the Teamsters for many years and, prior to her initial appointment to the NLRB, served as the Special Assistant to the Director of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and later as its Deputy Director. She is also an elected member of the Executive Board of the Industrial Relations Research Association and of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, Inc.
