Union Skills Courses
NLC offers a host of week-long labor education classes in areas such as organizing in the construction industry, negotiations, safety & health, union building and leadership development. Specialized certificates are available. New construction-related offerings include “Closing the Deal,” designed to help Local Union leaders develop and increase their organizing effectiveness.
Undergraduate and Graduate Programs
NLC offers a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in various areas of labor studies and a Bachelor of Technical/Professional Studies (BTPS) degree, which, as a 100% residential degree program, is ideally suited to many members of building trades unions interested in an online learning environment. Masters degree programs in Public Administration and Legal and Ethical Studies are delivered by the University of Baltimore at the NLC George Meany campus. There are also other graduate degree opportunities.
Free, Open Online Learning
Offered free of charge to the “world wide labor community,” the National Labor College has launched a cutting-edge union education tool called the Open Learning Course (OLC) program. The learning modules – including labor history, collective bargaining and basic computer are self-paced. Try one!
