A Message from BAC Canadian Local Union Officers
August - September 2001
The terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 has penetrated the very core of every American. It has also deeply affected your family in Canada. On behalf of Canadian Local Union members and officers, we offer our deepest sympathy to our BAC brothers and sisters in the United States, particularly those who may have family, friends, and/or colleagues affected by this tragedy.
Please know that the events of the past week have not only affected Americans—we in Canada share your individual and composite emotions. As has our government, we commit all we can to assist you in recovery and a future focus. In the spirit of the labour movement and as proud International Union members, we believe we can feel comforted in the fact that BAC brothers and sisters continue to exhibit the cooperation, compassion, and tolerance that has existed for more than a century within our organization. Regardless of national boundaries, we extend heartfelt thoughts, prayers, and personal support during this crisis.
It is unfortunate that it takes a tragedy such as this to bring families close together, but we hope that will be a positive result.
