Shortly after hosting its own Apprentice Contest, the NOADC Regional Training Center was pressed into action again on July 7th, this time for the North Central Regional Cement Apprentice Contest.

Beginning at 8am, apprentices spent seven grueling hours constructing identical cement mock-ups. The contest was overseen by NOADC Apprentice Coordinator Anthony McCullough, Illinois District Council Training Center Director Robert Arnold, Local 1 MN/ND Apprentice Coordinator Mark Wickstrom, and IU North Central Regional Director Henry Kramer. Judging the competition were NOADC Field Representative Ken Kastelic and Joe Dalton of the WV ADC.

Of the apprentices who competed, five advanced to the International Apprentice Contest in Washington, D.C.: Dan Heller of Local 16 OH; Jason McMahon and William Cuthbert of Local 9 MI; and Robert Goodrich and Randy Jansen of Local 9 WI.

Also advancing to the International Apprentice Contest were Mike Ward of Local 5 OH and Piotr Rapanovich of Local 1 MN/ND in the marble category, and Gregery Lasley of Local 4 IN/KY in the terrazzo category.

First place winner Dan Heller of Local 16 OH.
