Background
The International Apprentice Contest is returning this September, when top winners of regional contests will head to the nation’s capital to compete in Plaster, Cement, Tile, Marble, Terrazzo, PCC, Brick, and Stone.

Along with the honor of representing their Locals, the competitors will be among the first BAC members to experience the new BAC/IMI National Training Center.
The number of International Apprentice Contest contestants from each area is determined by the number of registered apprentices per region. All entrants must be enrolled as a full term apprentice in a registered program, and be members in good standing to compete.
Contestants will be drawn from the winners of Local and Regional BAC contests. In the final contest, competitors will take written exams and complete mockups in their respective craft, to show mastery of specific skills within a deadline.
The last International Apprentice Contest was held in 2003 at the National Building Museum. The 2007 contest promises to have an even larger turnout, as it coincides with the BAC Executive Council Meeting, Labor-Management Craft Committee Meetings and IMI Annual Meeting. The 2007 Awards Banquet will be held at the National Building Museum.
