Contest Background

The International Apprentice Contest is returning this September, when top winners of Regional contests will head to the nation’s capital to compete in Plaster, Cement, Tile, Marble, Terrazzo, PCC, Brick, and Stone.

The number of International Apprentice Contest contestants from each area is determined by the number of registered apprentices per region. All entrants must be enrolled as full term apprentices in a registered program, and be members in good standing to compete.

Contestants will be drawn from the winners of BAC Local and Regional apprentice contests. In the final contest, competitors will take written exams and complete mockups in their respective craft, to show mastery of specific skills within a deadline.

The previous 2007 International Apprentice Contest was the first to be held at the BAC/IMI National Training Center. The 2009 Contest carries this tradition forward. Once again, the Contest will be held to coincide with a joint meeting of the BAC Executive Council and Labor Management Craft Committees.
