Local 32 Michigan honored one of its own — Anthony
Maiuri — with a lifetime achievement award at Local
32’s Tile/Marble/ Terrazzo Exposition last November.
In presenting the award, Local 32 President Robert Wilson
thanked Maiuri for his leadership and commitment to the Union
and the Industry.
Maiuri credits much of his success as a
craftworker and contractor to his membership in BAC. As
a Local 32 member and contractor,
he experienced the value of BAC and IMI from both sides
of the table. His career in the tile/marble/terrazzo industry
began in 1946, and took him from a tile apprentice to President
and founder of Shore Tile Company.
Along the way, he did much
to help strengthen the unionized masonry industry. A firm
believer in the superiority of Union
training programs and market promotion, Maiuri, a board
member of the Detroit Ceramic Tile Contractors Association,
helped
forge a strong bond between the Association and IMI.
“Joining forces with BAC and IMI was the best thing
we ever did as an Association,” says Maiuri.
