On March 17, 27 newly elected
or appointed Local Union officers and field representatives
gathered at the George Meany Center for Labor Studies in
Silver Spring, Maryland to begin the BAC New Leaders’ program.
The week-long training, conducted by the International Union,
focuses on the core responsibilities that face new BAC officials,
such as collective bargaining, organizing, trade jurisdiction,
benefits, political action, and legal affairs. Participants
also visit nearby locations of historical significance to
the Union and labor history.
