God Bless the BAC

| Joseph Broderick of Local 1 Pennsylania/Delaware |
After reading the June/July issue of the Journal, I had
to
write this.
In the ‘BAC In Our Lives’ section,
a member from Local #35 Ohio wrote a story that sort
of sounds like mine.
I became a Steeplejack in 1949 after
getting out of the Army. I was 19 at the time. As the
years passed, I joined various trade unions, or worked
on a permit till my job was completed.
Being a steeplejack
meant being a Jack-of-all-Trades — but
on high structures. In 1975, I joined the Pointers,
Cleaners & Caulkers
Local #35 in Philadelphia, now Local 1 Pennsylvania/Delaware.

If it wasn’t for
BAC I wouldn’t have the Pension, Annuity or the
help I’ve received from my Local.
|
In that period of time, I was elected Recording Secretary
a few terms, was on the Executive Board, went on
a few marches to Washington D.C., to support the
labor movement, had my son-in-law join, and also
had the owner of the company’s
son as my apprentice.
If it wasn’t for the
Union (BAC) I wouldn’t
have the Pension, Annuity or the help I’ve
received from my Local. I’m not only proud
to be an American, I’m also proud to display
the Union Label.
I am now 72 years old, my health
isn’t as well as
I would have liked it to be. But the Union has made
it more comfortable for me.
If ever there was something God should Bless, it’s
the BAC.
Yours in brotherhood.
