Medical Screening for World Trade Center Workers
and Volunteers
On September 11th and the months that followed, thousands
of construction workers, including many BAC members, helped
with the rescue, recovery and clean-up efforts at the World
Trade Center. Since then, many of these workers have experienced
health problems, and future health effects remain unknown.
That’s why it is critical for anyone that was involved
in this effort to take part in the free and confidential
World Trade Center Worker and Volunteer Medical Screening
Program.
The program includes:
- Comprehensive medical screening examination
- Questions
related to work and medical history
- Physical examination
by physician
- Complete blood count, routine blood chemistries
and urinalysis
- Breathing tests
- Chest x-ray
- Evaluation of stress-related effects
- Referrals for follow-up
care
- Information about specific WTC exposures and possible
risks to
your health
- Information about benefits and entitlement
programs
Each participant will receive a confidential
written report of his/her examination that will not
be shared
with any other person without the participant’s
written consent. The program is being directed by The Mount Sinai Center
for Occupational and Environmental Medicine, in partnership with the National
Institute for
Occupational
Safety and Health. For more information call the World Trade Center Medical
Screening Program Hotline at 1-888-702-0630 or log onto www.WTCexams.org.
