Local 9 Pennsylvania Daughters Win Bates Scholarships

Amanda Wolk will be attending Virginia Wesleyan College in September.

Nicole Deitman will be a freshman at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania this fall.

Nicole Deitman, daughter of Local 9 PA member Kirtus Deitman, and Amanda Wolk, daughter of Local 9 PA member Paul Wolk, are both winners of this year’s Bates Special Merit Scholarship. Presented by the International Union, the scholarships will provide both students with annual stipends for up to four years.

The National Merit Scholarship Association administers BAC’s U.S. program. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

•  Must be the daughter or son (natural or adopted) of a BAC member (active, retired, or deceased) in good standing, and a U.S. citizen (or, if not now a citizen, a permanent U.S. resident, or have applied for permanent residency and in the process of becoming a U.S. citizen);

•  Must apply as a high school junior, and either plan to take or have taken the standardized PSAT Examination in his/her junior year; and

•  Must plan to graduate in the spring of his/her senior year, and attend college in the fall of that same year.
