Planning to Travel for Work? Make Sure Your Benefits Follow You
If you are planning to travel to another BAC Local’s jurisdiction to work, make sure that you have all your paperwork in place so the benefit contributions you earn follow you. In order to take advantage of the reciprocal agreements, both your home Local’s funds and the BAC funds in place where you travel for work must be signed to the new agreements.
A traveling member can take advantage of the reciprocal agreements by signing an “Authorization and Release Form” (available online from the Clearinghouse or from their Local.) Once this form is signed and received by a participating fund, reciprocity is activated for the member. Fund contributions will start being transferred on the first day of the month in which the form is completed and received, and continue monthly until no contributions have been received on the member’s behalf for a period of one year.
Check with your home Local to find out if your pension and health and welfare funds are signed to the International Reciprocal Agreements, or check online at www.ipfihf.org -- click on “BAC’s Reciprocity Clearinghouse”.
