As Congress considers vital funding to respond to the nation’s congested highways, airports, and roads, the National Heavy and Highway Alliance (NHHA) brought nearly 500 top business and union leaders together for a national summit to focus attention on the country’s crumbling infrastructure.
The summit was called at a critical juncture for the nation’s transportation infrastructure, according to NHHA Executive Director Ray Poupore. “The decisions made by national political leaders in the next few months will affect the safety of America’s roads, and the strength of our entire economy for years to come,” says Poupore. “America’s transportation construction unions and signatory contractors are united in our demand that Congress adequately fund the safe, strong, effective transportation infrastructure all Americans deserve.”
What is NHHA?
The National Heavy and Highway Alliance was originally formed in 1954 to assist contractors in becoming more competitive when bidding on projects in the heavy and highway industry. Today, a group of seven International Unions, including BAC, work together to assist union contractors in obtaining heavy and highway work.
