BAC Endorses John Kerry for President
The Executive Council of the International Union of Bricklayers
and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) voted unanimously to endorse
Senator John Kerry for President in 2004. In bringing the
question of a Kerry endorsement before the Council, BAC
President John J. Flynn contrasted Kerry’s strong
labor record in the Senate to the “assault on unions
and union members” that has occurred under the Bush
Administration. Flynn also mentioned Kerry’s endorsement
from his former running mate and longtime BAC ally, Congressman
Dick Gephardt, as well as more recent endorsements from
the Alliance for Economic Justice, an
advocacy organization comprised of 19 unions including
BAC, and the AFL-CIO’s
endorsement of the Senator.
In making the motion to endorse, BAC Local
3 Massachusetts President Chuck Raso cited Kerry’s
consistent and unwavering voting record and support for
working families
and the building trades. The motion was carried unanimously.
