New Local Leaders Acquire New Skills Eighteen new Local Union officers, field representatives,
and organizers from across the U.S. and Canada recently completed
the IU’s intensive week-long BAC New Leaders Program,
held annually at the AFL-CIO National Labor College – George
Meany Center in Silver Spring, MD. Secretary-Treasurer James
Boland described this year’s class as “outstanding – everyone
connected with the program was impressed by their enthusiasm
and active participation in all facets of the training, as
well as their dedication and loyalty to the Union.”
While Local representatives worked on a new set of skills
inside the classroom, just outside, members of Local 1 MD/VA/DC
were at work on a new building at the National Labor College.
Below are some of the 2004 New Leader participants.
