Northern Ohio Building Strong Communities

Something for the Kids

The expertise and skill of members of Locals 7 and 5 OH working for West Third Street Construction (formerly Foti Construction) contributed to the successful completion of the Bowery Professional Building at the Children’s Hospital of Akron, Ohio. This new $40 million facility houses the Heart Center, the Sick Child Care Center, medical education facilities and a conference center.

Masonry work on this seven-story, 240,000 square-foot structure began in June 2002. The project used nearly 400,000 bricks, 9,000 square feet of sandstone, and 600 cubic feet of limestone, and created roughly 100,000 work-hours for members.

The finished project.
