BAC's 'New' Website is Now Online
This fall, BAC’s newly renovated website – www.bacweb.org – was officially launched, following an early preview by Local officers and field representatives at
the Local Leadership Conference.
In announcing the launch, BAC Secretary-Treasurer James Boland said, “We believe the site’s new features and improved navigation will help members find the information they need with greater ease and speed.”
The following is a brief rundown of what members will find when they log onto www.bacweb.org:
Visit the ‘About Us’ section to learn more about BAC, its leaders, the International Masonry Institute, and the Union’s strategic plan, the Millennium Morning Project. Individuals interested in joining the Union can now request information on how to join BAC or contact the IU with their questions.
A new subsection, “Canada,” pulls together Canadian-specific information for members. And there’s also a page
with links to BAC Locals that have
their own websites.
Get articles from the latest BAC Journal, browse the Journal’s archives, view BAC’s latest press releases or calendar of events, and learn what’s happening with labor on a broader scale by linking to the AFL-CIO’s and the BCTD’s latest news and events. Obtain entry information for BAC’s Craft Awards, view winners from past years, and learn more about the International Apprentice Contest and Masonry Variations.
Find out about the many services, programs and benefits available to members and their families. This section contains information on pension and health benefits available through BAC and links to IPF, IHF, and BAC’s Reciprocal Clearinghouse. Access information about BAC’s Member Assistance Program (MAP), the BAC Sav-Rx prescription drug program, the Job Information Center, and Construction Workers Incorporated (see article page 3). There are also a host of products and discounts just a ‘click’ away. Order tools and apparel through BAC Tool Sales, and find out how to receive discounts on hotels, car rentals, and vacation tours. Also receive advice on auto buying, loan programs, or credit card services and counseling, and much more.
Get the latest safety and health news, obtain a copy of the Physician’s Silicosis Alert, and learn helpful tips on how to protect yourself on the job by visiting the Safety and Training section of the website. Also learn about the training opportunities available through BAC and IMI, get the latest training news, and link to a wealth of training resources.
Get up to the minute information on pending legislation affecting you and your family, review congressional voting records, register to vote, get absentee voting information, or voice your concerns on issues by contacting your elected officials through Congress Web.
The Members & Officers section contains links to portions of the website reserved for members,
organizers, and officers. Entry into passworded areas of the site requires
a username and password. All members, for example, can obtain political updates in the ‘members-only’ “Take Action” section. Officers and organizers can access the latest organizing information and materials, and officers can also obtain current and past editions of the Chalkline, a BAC publication for Local leaders. Preauthorized Local officers and
signatory contractors can obtain information pertaining to two national agreements. To receive the username and password for a specific site, send an email to askbac@bacweb.org, including the site you wish to access and your member number.
If you’re not sure where the information you need is located, use the new full site search function to immediately
find specific information you wish
to retrieve.
This is just a snapshot of the information and services available to BAC members online. If you have any
questions or comments about BAC’s improved website, please contact askbac@bacweb.org.
