President Flynn Addresses LCLAA
BAC President John J. Flynn joined a distinguished
speaking program at the 15th Annual Membership Meeting
of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement
(LCLAA), where he shared some of BAC’s strategies
to shape a stronger, more diverse Union, including
hiring bilingual organizers and working with immigrant
rights groups to end the exploitation of workers by
unscrupulous employers.
Each year a delegation of BAC
Local Union members and officers attends the annual
conference to discuss strategies, coordinate efforts,
and build alliances with labor and community groups.
Joining President Flynn at the August 2004 meeting
were BAC Regional Director John Franco, Local 13
Nevada Field Representative Carlos Aquin, Local 3 California
Field Representative Walter Bonilla, Northern Ohio
Administrative District Council Field Representative
Flory Fernandez, Local 21 Illinois Business Agent
Andrew Gasca and Organizer Luciano Padilla, and Local
1 Michigan Field Representative Frank Rodriguez.
Founded
in 1972, LCLAA represents the interests of nearly
1.7 million Latino union members in the United States
and Puerto Rico.
