Still Going Strong at 105

Brother Peronneau, left, visits with Local 1 NY pension fund staff member Zoraida Vogel.

Ernest Peronneau, 105, has been a dedicated member of Local 1 New York for almost 60 years. Peronneau was born on March 6, 1902. He joined Local 1 South Carolina in January 1948. He transferred to former Local 9 New York – now Local 1 – in May 1949, where he perfected his bricklaying skills. Brother Peronneau retired in July 1972. He continues to stay active, including taking a bus and train from his home in Brooklyn, to Local 1’s pension office in Rego Park to personally pick up his pension check.
