New Jersey Administrative District Council Director Named to State Economic Development Authority
On October 19th, Director Richard Tolson of the New Jersey Administrative District Council was appointed by Governor Jon Corzine to the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA). The central mission of the EDA is to broaden New Jersey’s economic base by financing diverse construction projects, creating new jobs, and providing technical support to businesses and nonprofits. Since its creation in 1974, the EDA has arranged billions of dollars in financing to help revitalize communities across the state.
A 19-year member and longtime labor, community, and political activist, Tolson looks forward to working with state officials and business leaders to shape EDA investments that will benefit employers and workers as well as their communities. He says he is “grateful to [New Jersey] Assembly Speaker Joe Roberts as well as Gov. Corzine for this opportunity.” Tolson’s previous involvement in civic affairs earned him the 2004 BAC Craft Award for Outstanding Public Service by an Individual.
