Few members understand the long-term importance of recruiting new members into BAC’s ranks better than those who have already given decades of service to the Union. That’s certainly the case with the members of the Local 3 Arizona/New Mexico/Texas El Paso Chapter Retirees Club, who expressed their unqualified support for the organizing efforts that are currently underway in the area under the direction of Local 3 President Jim Cahill and Organizer Fernando Hernandez.
Retired Local 3 member and contractor George Harbison said, “I am pleased that the International is supporting the organizing efforts in El Paso. I am sure the campaign will be a successful one.”
Fellow member and retiree Luis Prieto agrees. “I feel that this effort will benefit a lot of workers. I am now personally reaping the benefits for the years that I put into the Union.”
Gold Card member Benjamin Rincon is eager to share the advantages of working Union with others in the masonry field. “I am very happy and proud that finally there is someone in El Paso organizing. I have been very satisfied with how the Union has treated me for the past 50 years. I had good times in those years. I also feel… we will achieve better benefits and wages for our workers.”
Retired member Jose Vargas said, “I congratulate you for trying to organize in El Paso… I feel that nothing but good can come out of this campaign and it
will bring good opportunities for the working people.”
