New Jersey Administrative District Council
Promoting Union Awareness and Academic Excellence
Last June, the New Jersey Admin-istrative District Council awarded three students with the Joseph P. DiRenzo Scholarship Award, named in memory of the late Local 5 NJ Business Manager. Applicants for the scholarship must be the children of active members of a NJ ADC Local who are seniors in high school, have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and are enrolled in an accredited college or university for the upcoming fall. “Driving” for Dollars to Fight Diabetes
Officers of the New Jersey Admin-istrative District Council gathered last June in Mays Landing for the annual golf tournament to benefit Dollars Against Diabetes, also known as DAD’s Day. Now in its fourth year, the 2007 tournament raised $25,000 for the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI), or more than $60,000 over the last three years. Justin Michael Mirabile Scholarship Awarded
Last year, Local 2 New York established the Justin Michael Mirabile Annual Scholarship Program in memory of the late son of member John Mirabile. The Program offers financial assistance to the dependents of Local 2 members that plan to attend college or an accredited program. Three students were presented with scholarships in 2007. A Special Playground for Kids
Members of Local 6 Wisconsin and the WI ADC Field Staff came to the aid of the Stevens Point community by helping to complete the Kids are Special Here (KASH) Playground, one of the few handicap accessible playgrounds in the state. Boldt Construction, DHO Mason Contractors, and McGivern Masonry also contributed by donating materials and equipment. Service and Solidarity
Last spring, when heavy winds knocked down a large cedar tree, damaging the office of Local 170 of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 2 BC President Roberto Tuzzi, left, and member Greg Jensen lent a hand with badly needed repairs.
