Bricklayers Endorse John Kerry for President
February 17, 2004
BAL HARBOUR—The
Executive Council of the International Union of Bricklayers
and Allied
Craftworkers
(BAC) voted unanimously today to
endorse Senator John Kerry for president in 2004. In bringing
the question of a Kerry endorsement before the Council, BAC
President John J. Flynn contrasted Kerry’s strong labor
record in the Senate to the “assault on unions and
union members” that has occurred under the Bush administration.
Flynn also mentioned Kerry’s recent endorsement by
the Alliance for Economic Justice, an advocacy organization
comprised of 19 unions including BAC, and the AFL-CIO’s
anticipated endorsement of Senator Kerry on Thursday. In
making the motion to endorse, BAC Local 3 Massachusetts President
Chuck Raso cited Kerry’s consistent and unwavering
voting record and support for working families and the building
trades. The motion was carried unanimously.
