| An exhibit of noted labor photographer Earl Dotter's work was featured at the BAC Convention Hall |
Delegates to the 2000 BAC Convention were updated on new BAC health and safety initiatives and given the opportunity to raise other related concerns during a workshop conducted by two leading experts on construction health and safety. Dr. Chris Zimmerman of Concordia Wisconsin University, and Chris Trahan and Industrial Hygienist ‚ith the Center to Protect Workers’ Rights, reported on work in the areas of ergonomics, silica exposure, and contact dermatitis.
Convention delegates were also given the opportunity to view the works of Earl Dotter, a well known labor photographer. Dotter has spent three decades using his camera to raise awareness of the dangers many workers face on the job, and the illness and devastation that results from unsafe working conditions. His exhibit, The Quiet Sickness, has received critical acclaim, and pictures of BAC members from Local 1 Maryland, Virginia and D.C., engaged in safe work practices were showcased in this exhibit.
