BAC Raises Awareness of Silica Hazard
BAC
is raising the hazard of silica exposure to a new level.
At this year’s Construction Safety & Health
Conference, silica exposure was the focus of several
workshops. BAC Executive Vice President Jerry O’Malley,
who heads up BAC health and safety programs and serves
as the chairman of the Building Trades Silica Subcommittee,
presented the case for a silica standard. Silica related
conference topics included: Silica Exposure: Seeking
21st Century Solutions to an Age-Old Hazard; Managing
Silica Exposures at Construction Sites; and A Blueprint
for Integrating Health Hazard Controls for Lead & Silica
into Construction Projects. Look for coverage of this
conference in the next issue of the Journal.
