IMI Plaster Training Available
Journal: January - February 2002
BAC apprentices and veteran Local representatives alike came to the IMI National Training Center in February to learn more about coatings for Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) block. More than two-dozen trainees learned basic coats and several types of finishes for the new block. “Getting out ahead on this newer material will give our contractors an advantage,” says West Virginia Administrative District Council Director Leroy Hunter, Jr., who sent seven members.
Along with specialty courses like AAC, IMI conducts entry-level plaster training at the National Training Center in Maryland, plus upgrade and cross-craft training at regional centers and upon demand. Currently, IMI is sponsoring a 12-week pre-job plastering program in conjunction with Local 6 Louisiana/Mississippi/ Alabama.
EIFS Familiarization classes will be held in July and August at the National Training Center in Maryland. Courses on AAC Block and Coatings, and Pre-Job Plastering, will be held throughout the year. For details, contact Clarence Nichols at 1-800-JOBS-IMI or firstname.lastname@example.org.
