BAC Apprentices Showcase Their Skills

Hawaii

In July, Hawaii apprentices showed they have what it takes at the 16th Annual Hawaii State & 9th Invitational Apprenticeship Contest held at Honolulu Community College. Eleven apprentices from Local 1 Hawaii participated in the event that consisted of two masonry categories – bricklaying and ceramic tile.

In the bricklaying category, Irvin Joseph took the first place title with Aaron-Ko Kealaiki and Walter Glover coming in second and third respectively. In the ceramic tile category, Lawrence Almeida finished first, Brent Akashi took second place, and Jeris Orian came in third. Other participants in the ceramic tile contest were Arthur Aiwohi, Gilbert Anzai, Juan Berdon, Derreck Crutchfield, and Micah Dods.

Northern Ohio Administrative District Council

In early 2006, NOADC apprentices took second place honors at the Northern Ohio Decorative Concrete Competition.
